Autumn colours

Summer is sadly over and Autumn is just beginning. Not many leaves have fallen yet but they starting to turn red, brown, orange and yellow already. Many animals will begin hibernation soon and a lot of birds will leave and a lot come back. It really is quite a beautiful time of year. Here some pictures and facts on our Autumn animals.

These flying mammals don't stay awake for winter. They only wake from hibernation to drink.
The Brown bear (like other hibernating bears) will usually have its cubs when in hibernation.
Hedgehogs are one of the deepest sleepers around they sleep through the WHOLE winter!!!

Surprisingly snails hibernate. They use their shell as a bed as in some places they can hibernate for years.

Above are two squirrels one is grey and one is red. Everyone knows that squirrels hibernate but only grey squirrels do! Red ones stash food around the place and get it when the weather is too bad to find any.

Here are some beautiful butterflies most of the will migrate for winter but a few will stay and hibernate.

That's all but I'll be back with more Autumn animals soon.
